2025 Demands Positive Change from Us.

2025 urges us to abandon the negative activities and behaviors we practiced in 2024. Through positive actions, we can transform our society into one that is green, beautiful, prosperous, and peaceful.

If we are contributing to pollution, we must adopt positive habits and, at our own level, make our surroundings greener and cleaner. This requires eliminating litter from our environment. Dispose of waste at designated spots specified by local authorities or hand it over to their authorized personnel.

One essential step toward maintaining cleanliness is ensuring that our vehicles—be it bikes, cars, rickshaws, or vans—are not emitting excessive smoke. If they are, we must immediately repair them to prevent contributing to air pollution. Air pollution is a global concern that directly impacts us as well, as evidenced by the smog that has now become a recurring fifth season. Addressing this issue requires us to take serious steps in our industries and factories to prevent water pollution. By doing so, we can move away from being listed among nations causing water pollution and instead be recognized for our efforts to combat it.

This new year also demands that we address noise pollution, which disrupts societal peace. Avoid unnecessary honking on roads or creating disturbances in neighborhoods with loud music or sound systems. We must look to developed nations for inspiration and shed the label of a “third-world” country.

2025 urges us to stop the unchecked construction of haphazard housing societies and commercial plazas. Agricultural lands, fields, and gardens are being ruthlessly destroyed for this purpose. At the current pace, it seems that in the future, there will be more commercial structures than humans.

This year also emphasizes the importance of ensuring the basic necessities of life for everyone. No one should resort to suicide due to the lack of these essentials. Special attention must be given to helping impoverished families, especially young women who remain unmarried because their families cannot afford dowries. The state and individuals must establish welfare programs to support such families, sparing them the need to beg for assistance.

Let this year be a peaceful one, free from terrorism. All members of society should live harmoniously, accept one another, and rise above provincial, linguistic, religious, sectarian, and caste-based divisions to embrace a unified Pakistani identity. We should work toward making our society peaceful, setting an example that earns global admiration.

2025 demands the establishment of a uniform education system, ensuring that education is accessible to all. No one should deny its importance. A uniform system can eliminate societal disparities and provide equal opportunities for all to prosper.

This year also calls for the elimination of nepotism. Employment opportunities should be awarded purely on merit, erasing the impression of favoritism. This would pave the way for rebuilding Pakistan in line with the vision of its founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah—a Pakistan that truly belongs to all its citizens, where both the elite and the common people enjoy equal rights. Laws should be established to ensure that only residents of the country are considered its citizens, while those who have acquired foreign citizenship are recognized solely as citizens of those nations.

2025 demands that we make Pakistan safe for minorities so they prefer to live here instead of seeking refuge abroad. Minorities should be recognized as equal citizens and provided opportunities at every level. Systems should be put in place to ensure they can easily access facilities like the 5% job quota without additional struggles.

This year also advocates for providing women with equal opportunities and ensuring the effective implementation of laws designed for their welfare.

In short, the new year calls for the reformation of a society that truly embodies the meaning of “Pak-i-Stan”—a pure land. A land where even the passing wind feels proud, the sun shines with pride, and the moon beams joyfully, knowing it illuminates a nation of truly pure-hearted individuals.

Turning this vision of 2025 into reality is our collective responsibility. Let us resolve this year to contribute wholeheartedly to making our society greener, more beautiful, prosperous, and peaceful.
